You’ve filled out the application, had your references checked, completed a home visit, and been approved as a foster… now what?

We may have just the dog for you… or we may not. Placement is very important to us, and we want to make sure you AND your foster dog have the best experience possible. We have a waitlist, and we WILL find your foster dog! But sometimes it takes time.

Once we’ve found your match, we will provide everything they (and you!) might need. Beds, crates, bowls, blankets, food, treats… We will set you up for success, and you won’t need to worry about preparing for your new dog before they arrive.

All our dogs are fully vetted before even being considered for adoption. For some dogs this means a simple wellness check, for some it means extensive surgery. We are committed to getting every dog in our rescue the care they need, no matter what that may be. We will handle all vet care and vet visits. Fosters should never make medical decisions for dogs in their care, and should only take our dogs to our vets, under our supervision.

Your job as a foster is to care for a dog, but it’s also to learn about them. Are they shy? Are they dominant? Do they resource guard? How are they on walks? How are they physically? Itchy? Won’t let you touch one paw? Bleeding gums when they chew on a toy? These are all things we depend on fosters to tell us, so we know not just how to help, but what needs help in the first place.

Everyone knows about “foster fails,” but no one really talks about how rewarding it can be to foster a dog and help them find their perfect forever home… with someone else. Listen, we’ve done some foster failing of our own, but you don’t have to keep your foster! It can be just as rewarding to be a stepping stone on your fosters way to their perfect life. While you are fostering, we are perfectly happy if you fall in love with your foster and want to adopt them, but it is never a requirement.

Once your foster is adopted, let us know if you would like to be considered to foster again, and if so, we can start this process over again and find another dog that needs your love and care.
